  First time playing there. Challenging layout. Precision more important than length. Greens were slow but consistent throughout. Course in good shape. Will definitely play there again

  1st time here, River Downs Golf Club, differently a place you need to play" Little chilly currently out, but what a great course tucked away from city.. Are you a target golfer? be ready to challenge yourself, play smart and you'll enjoy this course. Fairways have been designed for the golfer to enjoy the perfect shot, but it also allows the strategic player to relax and just enjoy your round. Elevation changes and the gullies you need to carry makes this one of the best courses I've played. Greens huge and forgiving, currently there fluffy/slow but it's that time of year, can't wait to return and play when it warms up 70-80 degrees. Go play this golf course you won't be disappointed, very reasonable and enjoyable. Tee's are set up for the people who enjoy playing long irons as well at 6700 from the Blue to under 5000 for the ladies.

  Wow- not impressed with this course. There wasn’t a single hole that wasn’t in terrible condition from the tee boxes and fairways to the greens and bunkers. As noted by another reviewer, greens are definitely slow. The cart paths and bridges are in poor, deteriorating condition, and some areas are even blocked off. I’m honestly surprised it’s not considered a safety issue. I hope you’re ready for a bumpy, off-roading experience! One star added for course layout, location and scenery. Small gripe but it would be nice to have ball cleaning stations at the tee boxes.

  I want this course to succeed so badly, but unfortunately, it is still in terrible shape. The greens are extremely slow, the fairways are basically just dirt and dead, and the rough is sprawling with weeds and dandelions. The bunkers also vary between packed-in dirt or loose clay. The cart paths desperately need repair because it’s an extremely bumpy ride. Charging $40+ for 18 holes when the course is in this shape is reprehensible.
  
  However, the course layout is very fun, but challenging. There are also some beautiful views. The staff is very friendly. When the grass is grown in, the driving range/practice area is very nice. Therefore, these factors give it an extra star from me.

  worst golf experience of my life
  First you have to walk your clubs from parking lot. Wouldn't have minded but i just had prostate surgery. You think one of the young employees would have offered.
  Cost 40 dollars at twilight and in the shape of a 20 dollar course/horrible.
  After 9 holes I decided to get some beverages as the heat index was at 100 degrees. I ordered 3 with ice. They had no ice so that doesn't do the beverages any good. I cancelled the beverages and just asked for a rain check for 9 holes as it was just to hot.
  They informed me that they cant give a rain check unless its actually raining. I just left at that point after 9. had enough!!
  Never go back there again
  horrible course/horrible attitudes!
